Temple Newsam House
There have been settlements on the Temple Newsam site since at least 1086 where it is referenced in the Domesday book; the land was acquired by Templars, sold to aristocrats and eventually brought into familial ownership, with construction beginning on the Tudor manor house in 1500. Modern visitors to the Grade I listed building can experience galleries from private art collections and discover the history of the great manor house. The greater estate is utilised for a dizzying array of events, from all-day music events to weekly Park-runs.
